CSIR-CMERI develops Sustainable Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility:

Under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research ( CSIR), the Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI) has created a Municipal Solid Waste ( MSW) Processing Facility that has helped to achieve decentralised solid waste decentralisation.

♦ CSIR-CMERI`s vital focus is to unburden traditional households by advanced segregation strategies from the segregation obligations. There is a minimum emission element in the bio-digestion process adopted.

♦ The MSW facility has been equipped with unique capabilities to make it easy to deal with a variety of waste, including masks, sanitary napkins, diapers, etc.

♦ The MSW facility has been able to help split the COVID chain by UV-C lights and hot-air convection techniques with unique disinfection capabilities.

♦ The equipment can be worked with optimum energy sufficiency by adding solar energy technology which can also feed the surplus Energy Supply onto a Mini-Grid.

♦ The decentralised waste management technology developed by CSIR-CMERI will lead to a dramatic reduction in transport logistics expenditure and help to reduce CO2 emissions by minimising the use of fossil fuels.

♦ The Scientifically Decentralized Waste Collection Hubs will help increase outreach to different locations and will also increase the development capacity for the region `s residents.
