China to invest USD 1 bn in Pakistan development projects:
China has announced its plan to invest $1 billion in the development projects in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The announcement was made by China`s Ambassador Yao Jing in the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) in Islamabad. It aims to further boost bilateral ties between the countries.
Projects:
The second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA) has been planned to be finalized in October 2019. After the accomplishment of CPFTA 90% of Pakistani exports including agricultural products and seafood will get a zero percent duty.
Like this New Market, trade access can increase Pakistan`s exports by $500 million.
China-Pakistan relationship:
The countries Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. So far, the 2 countries have always supported each other strongly on issues concerning each other`s core interests. The development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is being carried out smoothly. CPEC connects Gwadar Port in Balochistan with China`s Xinjiang province. CPEC is the flagship project of Chinese President Xi Jinping`s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Also, Pakistani enterprises would be sent to China to explore business opportunities.
Apart from these, currently China is planning to create a liaison between Chinese women entrepreneurs and IWCCI association. For this, the Chinese women are invited to participate in the 5th Islamabad Expo scheduled in November to promote networking.

i.Statistics: In 2017, there were 10 million malaria cases in India out of the 219 million cases of malaria worldwide.
ii.Elimination: India, eastern Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea will struggle to eliminate malaria by 2030 based on current trajectories.
iii.Peculiar case of malaria in India: Authors noted that in 2017, 71% of the cases in Tamil Nadu occurred in Chennai with a population of 7 million people.
