Assam Golden Butterfly tea variety auctioned for Rs at GTAC:
- In Assam, a kilogram of Golden Butterfly tea struck gold at the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) as it was sold at Rs.75,000. This is a new international record bettering the previous high of Rs.70,501 per kg.
- Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) said that the growing demand for speciality tea helped the ‘Golden Butterfly tea’ surpass the earlier record by Rs.4,499. The hand-crafted tea was made from tender leaves and buds available only around June-July. It was produced by Dikom Tea Estate near eastern Assam’s Dibrugarh town.
Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC):
The GTAC is a centre for showcasing high-priced Assam speciality tea and provided an opportunity to sellers who want to sell their tea at remunerative prices. GTAC auction centre has created an image of a place where records are meant to be broken and history.
GTAC witnessed two big records in July with orthodox variety `Maijan Golden Tips` fetched a price of Rs.70,501 per kg. Manohari Gold is a another specialty orthodox tea variety was sold One kilogram at Rs.50,000.
Karnataka government launches E-Step, a programme for student entrepreneurs:
The Department of IT, BT and S&T in Karnataka through Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS)launched the E-step The main aim is to promote an initiative to empower student start-ups. The E-Step focuses on boot camps, mentoring and training programmes which cover various aspects of entrepreneurship. E-Step, an initiative from Start-up Cell, is specially crafted for students/start-ups/entrepreneurs to understand the basics of entrepreneurship from experienced trainers.
In the first phase, a day-long boot camp across New Age Incubation Networks (NAIN) organised. The Boot camps will be held at 30 colleges between August 12 and September 14 in Mandya, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Ballari, Dharwad, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Kalaburgi and Bidar.
Karnataka Government:
The Karnataka government is to instil the spirit of entrepreneurship and E-Step is one such initiative where we identify and groom young talent. There are around 2,499 students between the age group of 18 and 26 have registered, and almost 50 per cent off them are female participants. The boot camp gives participants an overview of the current start-up system. It also acts as a platform for ideation where teams will work on various ideas based on problems, solutions, competitors and customers. They will also work on product design and marketing. There will also be a session on product development, sales and customer engagement, business model and creation of a pitch deck. The boot camp also includes a mock pitch session and a mentor talk. The Air India (AI) announced its inaugural passenger flight over the North Pole region from August 15 between New Delhi and San Francisco. The first commercial service will be operated by Captain Rajneesh Sharma and Captain Digvijay Singh It marked the "maturing of civil aviation in India as another frontier is crossed. Air India conquered this frontier in 2007.He took delivery of the brand new aircraft and flew it over the North Pole from Seattle to New Delhi.
The Passengers will benefit from reduced fuel consumption and a better environment from reduced carbon emissions. Air India is in a unique position to offer direct (non-stop) flights between India and North America but the Polar route between the two countries. India and North America benefit immensely by using existing North Polar routes for commercial air operations. The AI has flights to the US from the Atlantic and Pacific routes as part of its endeavour to conserve fuel, slash travel time, improve aircraft utility and reduce carbon emissions. According to AI, the fuel-saving on the Polar route is expected to be in the region of 02 to 07 tonnes with a resultant decrease in carbon emission of 06 to 21 tonnes per flight. The North Pole region gave airlines an opportunity to reach destinations previously not available for non-stop services and reduce flying times on existing routes and city pairs. The increased route resulted in major improvements in areas of aviation infrastructure like communications, air traffic control, and services supplies at remote airports. The Polar region still falls short of the infrastructure and the logistics standards of the more widely used air-spaces, thereby offering unique opportunities laced with distinct challenges. The area of Magnetic unreliability, limited choices for diversion to alternative airports, solar radiation, fuel freezing, passenger and aircraft retrieval in case of diversions, are some specific factors requiring active mitigation to ensure equivalent levels of safety.
AePS crosses milestone of 200 million transactions in July 2019:
An umbrella organization for operating retail payments and settlement, National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) stated that Aadhaar enabled Payment System (AePS) used by a total of 6.65 crore Indian citizens at 220.18 million. The transaction value Rs 9,685.35 crore during July 2019 against the transaction count of 194.33 million. They maintained a transaction value of Rs 8,867.33 crore in June 2019.This will help improve the reaching out of financial inclusion in India.Aadhaar is used as an identity to access respective.
