1) Saina Nehwal Becomes First Indian to Reach World Badminton Championship Final.

  • Saina Nehwal has become the first player from India to win a silver medal at the World Badminton Championship. After a remarkable performance in Jakarta, she lost to Spain’s Carolina Marin.

2) Andy Murray beats Novak Djokovic at Rogers Cup in Montreal.
  • Britan Andy Murray won the Rogers Cup Masters tournament in Montreal, Canada, first victory against the world number 1 since 2013 Wimbledon final.
  • Murray defeated world number one Novak Djokovic. It was Murray`s 11th Masters Title.
 
 
3) Bangladesh Lift maiden SAFF (South Asian Football Federation )U-16 Soccer Title.
  • Bangladesh Under-16 team won their first-ever South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) under-16 title at Sylhet District Stadium of Bangladesh defeated defending champions India.
  • Besides India and Bangladesh, the tournament was participated by Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and the Maldives.

4) Delhi Girl Aditi Chauhan Becomes First Indian To Play For A Premier League Side In England.

  • India`s Aditi Chauhan has become the country`s first woman to play English league football.( West Ham United Ladies Football Club is an English women`s football club (FC) affiliated with West Ham United FC).
  • She made her debut for the women’s team of the West Ham United in the opening game of the season against Coventry City.
  • ICC lifts sanctions against Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif.
  • Pakistan duo Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt will see their suspensions for spot-fixing expire on September 1 announced by International Cricket Council (ICC).
  • Asif and Butt,along With Paceman Mohammad Amir,Were banned in 2011 over a spot fixing case.
  • Amir’s five year ban was relaxed in January 2015 after the ICC amended its anti-Corruption Code, allowing him to Play Domestic Cricket in Pakistan six months before his ban expired.
 
 
5) Indian badminton ace Saina Nehwal regains top spot in world rankings.
  • Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal regained the top spot in women`s singles in the latest rankings of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) by toppling Spaniard Carolina Martin to whom she had lost in the summit clash of the just-concluded World Championships.

6) England fast bowler Chris Tremlett retires.

  • Former England fast bowler Chris Tremlett announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after struggling to overcome a back problem.
  • Tremlett, 33, starred in England`s 2010-11 Ashes triumph in Australia, taking 17 wickets in three Tests including the series-clinching dismissal of Michael Beer at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • In total he played 146 first-class matches for England, Hampshire and Surrey, his latest club, taking 459 wickets at an average of 28.66.
 

 

7) Aditi Ashok becomes first Indian winner of the ladies British Amateur Golf.
  • Aditi Ashok of Bengaluru became the first Indian to win the Ladies Britsh Amateur Stroke Play Golf championship at the Moortown Golf Club at Leeds, United Kingdom.
  • 17-year-old Aditi Ashok, ranked 52nd in the world Golf amateur rankings.

8) Ashes 2015: England lose fifth Test by innings but win series 3-2.
  • England cricket team won 2015 Ashes Test series, 3-2 against Australia at England. In the fifth and final match of the series, Australia defeated England by an innings and 46 runs at Ovals.
  • England had already clinched the series with victories in three of the first four games.
  • Chris Rogers of Australia and Joe Root of England jointly shared the man of the series award.
  • Australian Skipper Michael Clarke had announced his retirement after Australia`s defeat in the fourth test which helped England retain the Ashes. Steven Smith was named the new captain.
  • Serena Williams wins Cincinnati Masters for 69th singles title.
  • World number one ranking Serena Williams won the Cincinnati Masters Women’s Singles title by defeating the third seeded Simona Halep of Romania.
  • Having won the 2014 title, it was the third appearance in the finals (2013, 2014 and 2015) and the second Cincinnati title win for the American player.
