1) Mumbai Cricket Association ended Shah Rukh Khan`s Five Year ban on entering Wankhede Stadium.

  • Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) lifted the 5-year ban on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on entering the Wankhede Stadium.
  • The decision on removal of ban imposed on Khan was taken during the Association’s meet in Mumbai.
  • Khan was banned from entering the Wankhede in May 2012 for five years after a scuffle and heated altercation with a security guard and the MCA officials following an IPL game in which KKR beat the Mumbai Indians
  • MCA`s Managing Committee then headed by Vilasrao Deshmukh, former Maharashtra chief minister.

3) Joshna Chinappa wins Victorian Open for 10th professional title.
  • Indian champion Joshna Chinappa won the women’s squash title in the 15000 US Dollar Victorian Open WSA Event in Melbourne, Australia.
  • Chinappa defeated second seed Line Hansen of Denmark.
  • The title in the men`s section went to Ryan Cuskelly of Australia who defeated Greg Lobban of Scotland.

  • India women`s recurve team claims silver in World Archery Championship.
  • Indian women`s recurve team of Deepika Kumari, Laxmirani Majhi and Rimil Buriuly won a silver medal at the World Archery Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • Russian team comprising Inna Stepanova, Ksenia Perova and Tuyana Dashidorzhieva clinched the gold medal.
  • Copenhagen Archery Championships was held from 26 July to 2 August 2015.

4) August edition of the FIFA-Coca-Cola World Rankings released.

  • August edition of the FIFA-Coca-Cola World Rankings shows change in top three places with Argentina remaining at No.1 position.
  • Argentina is followed by Belgium at No.2 and the World Cup winner Germany at No.3 position
  • The main highlight of the August edition of the FIFA rankings is that Chile for the first time entered top ten (ranked 10th).
  • India with 161 points retained its 156th position in FIFA World rankings.
 
5) Ultimate Frisbee` gets International Olympic Committee recognition.
  • Flying disc sports, including Ultimate Frisbee, have been officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • Announcement was made at an IOC (International Olympic Committee) session in Kuala Lumpur Malayasia by giving official recognition to World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF).
  • Frisbee is the sport of flying disc which became popular in the 1960s and 70s. Presently, WFDF governs several Frisbee events including Beach Ultimate, Ultimate Frisbee and field events.

7) Babita Kumari, Bajrang book Wrestling World Championship.

  • Commonwealth Games champion Babita Kumari (wrestlers) and Asian Games and Commonwealth Games silver medallist Bajrang (wrestlers) have booked their berths for the World wrestling championship, to be held in Las Vegas from September 7 to 12.
  • Babita got the better of Nirmala Devi 6-2 in Women’s 53 kg category to qualify
  • Bajrang defeated Sonu 4-0 in Men’s Freestyle 61 kg division to book a berth In World wrestling championship.
  • Final trial for the category was conducted by the Wrestling Federation of India at the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
 

8) BCCI sets up Ad-Hoc Committee.
  • BCCI announces Ad-Hoc Committee for Cricket Administration in Bihar and Uttarakhand.
  • The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Ad-Hoc Committee for Cricket Administration in the states of Bihar and Uttarakhand.
