Meghalaya Receives a United Nations Award at the World Summit on the Information Society Forum
Meghalaya`s Planning Department, which is part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture, has received a prestigious UN Award.
Highlights:
- The e-Proposal System, part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architecture (MeghEA), has been granted the prestigious UN Award – World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) Prizes 2022 for Meghalaya`s crucial effort.
- The state government stated that IT is crucial in creating digital services, meeting public needs, and fostering inclusive communities in today`s digital age.
- MeghEA was announced by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in 2019 and is being implemented by the Government of Meghalaya`s Planning Department.
BRO`s Atal Tunnel won the award for best infrastructure project.
Near New Delhi, the Indian Building Congress (IBC) awarded the Atal Tunnel, built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Rohtang, Himachal Pradesh, the `Best Infrastructure Project` award.
Highlights:
- More than thirty cutting-edge infrastructure initiatives have been nominated for the award. The strategic tunnel was named the `Best Project for Excellence in Built Environment` by the IBC jury in 2021.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the tunnel to the country on October 3, 2020, utilizing the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM).
- It has a semi-transverse ventilation system with huge fans that circulate air separately across the tunnel.
- An emergency tunnel has been built into the tunnel cross-section beneath the main highway for emergency escape.
