Forest Rights Act 2006 To be Carried Out:

The Forest Rights Act of 2006 was to be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.
 
Highlights:
♦ The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to implement the Forest Rights Act of 2006.
♦ It will improve the socioeconomic standing of tribes and nomadic communities such as the Gujjar-Bakarwals and the Gaddi-Sippis.
♦ The decision will address tribal peoples` long-standing struggles while also ensuring forest conservation.
 

Crime Record of India by NCRB:

 
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) began keeping track of crime in India.
 
Highlights:
♦ In 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown resulted in a decrease in common crimes such as theft, robbery, and assault on women and children.
♦ In 2020, there was a 28% increase in the number of cases registered in the country compared to 2019, owing primarily to violations of COVID-19 norms.
♦ In cases of disobedience to the order duly promulgated by public servants, a nearly 21-fold bounce was recorded.
♦ Crimes against Scheduled Castes increased by 9.4 percent. Offenses against Scheduled Tribe communities increased by 9.3 percent in 2019.
