The Joint Entrance Examination

The Joint Entrance Examination 2012, IIT JEE 2012, for admission to the undergraduate courses in 15 Indian Institute of Technology situated across several states. The examination can be written either in English or in Hindi.

The Indian Institutes of Technology are at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kanpur, Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Patna, Ropar and Roorkee.
 
The entrance examination will have two question papers of three hours each. Both the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The questions will be objective type and will test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates.

The examination will be held on April 8, 2012 Paper 1 from 9.00 am -12.00 noon and Paper 2 from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

 A candidate can attempt maximum two times in consecutive years JEE irrespective of whether he or she has passed the exam. Candidates who have attempted JEE in 2010 or earlier are NOT ELIGIBLE to appear in IIT-JEE 2012. 

Reservation of seats for certain categories of candidates are made as per Government of India Rules under relaxed criteria. These candidates will be admitted based on the caste certificate issued by competent authority in the prescribed format. Candidates must submit attested copies of these certificates to the respective zonal IITs on or before June 01, 2012, failing which admission to the respective reserved seats will not be considered. The percentage of reservation will be as follows:

15% for SCs, 7.5% for STs, 27% for OBCs and 3% for physically disabled candidates in all IITs.

Candidates are required to submit application either online, through internet, or offline, on the prescribed application form. The appplication fee charged is General/OBC (Male) Rs.1600/- for online and Rs.1800/- for offline, ST/ST/PD (Male) Rs.800/- for online and Rs.1000/- for offline and all categories female, nil for online and Rs.200/- for offline. Payment can be made through challan of selected banks.

Offline application forms sale at banks 11th November to 5th December 2011
Completed Offline or printed copy of the online application forms to reach IITs on or before 15th December 2011.
