TET- Mandatory to be a Teacher

In accordance by the provisions of sub-section(1of Section 23 of Right to Education act, National Council for Teachers Education(NCTEhad made some minimum qualifications for person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher for class I to VIII. Also it is compulsory that the candidate should pass the Teacher Eligibility test(TETwhich will be conducted by Central or State Government. The Test will be conducted by a suitable government agency in with the guidelines of NCTE.

   


Scope of Teaching in India:-


India is the second most populated country in the world. So the scope of Health and education here is great as compared to any other job. But in Primary and secondary levels; the scope of teaching is very well, as compared to other levels. It is because of major drop outs after class 8th. People must want to give their child education up to 8th.
Government of India brought Right of Education(RTEfor implementing the right of children to free and compulsory education. Since National Council for Teachers EducationNCTEis responsible for training of teachers in India; So It has more responsibility on it for implementing the Right to Education Act-2009.

 

Teachers Eligibility Test:-


There are many ways for teacher`s recruitment in all the states of India. Some sates recruits teachers on performance test conducted by the state; some on the basis of Interview of the candidates; some on merit basis of qualifying examination and so on. The Government of India had decided to establish an essential and quality of teachers to be recruited in each and every School. Not only government but also private schools have to follow these rules strictly.

So, Government of India gave the idea of Teaching aptitude test known as Teachers Eligibly Test; which is same as UGC-NET(National Eligibility Test). By implementing this Test for all teachers recruitment process in India; there will be an uniformity among all teachers minimum knowledge. So our children have better chance to develop in guidance of those teachers. This Test will be conducted State as well as Central government and after qualifying this test; the candidates may became a teacher.


Minimum Educational Qualification for TET examination:-

It is divided into two categories. First, those who want to be a primary school teacher; and second those who want to be, teacher of 6th to 8th class.

1For Primary Schools:-

a.Senior Secondaryor its equivalentwith at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Educationor its equivalent). OR

b.Senior Secondaryor its equivalentwith at least 45% marks and 2 year Diploma in Elementary. OR

c.Educationor its equivalent), in accordance with the NCTERecognition Norms and Procedure Regulations 2002).OR

d.Senior Secondaryor its equivalentwith at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor of Elementary EducationB. El. Ed.). OR

e.Senior Secondaryor its equivalentwith at least 50% marks and 2 year Diploma in EducationSpecial Education). OR

f.Till January 2012, Candidate having B. Ed. With 50 % in graduation can fill the TET form. OR
Note: - There is 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST/differently abled persons.

a.B.A. /B.Sc. and 2 year Diploma in Elementary Educationor its equivalent). Or
b.B.A. /B.Sc. with at least 50% marks and 1 year Bachelor in EducationB. Ed). Or

Note:-
a.For this category also there is 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST/Differently abled persons.
b.All the Teaching certificates should be approved by NCTE and Rehabilitation Council of IndiaRCIas applicable.


Applicability and Validity:-


The Teacher Eligibility TestTETis applicable for all teaching recruitment in India. Private Schools may also consider this test as a standard for recruiting teachers. Central government as well as state government will conduct this TET test and provide passing certificates to all successful candidate who will score a minimum marks(about 50-60 %as decided by the government.

The Validity of the Teachers Eligibility TestTETcertificate will be for seven years. A Candidate can apply to it several times and so on after getting the certificate he/she may improve his/her marks.


Nature and Pattern for TET:-


National Council for teachers EducationNCTEhad put a detailed Syllabus of the teacher`s eligibility test. The test pattern will be such that; the candidate should have full knowledge about the subject concerned, about the behavior of the students of class 1 to 8th level.

The test paper consists of two levels. First level for those who will apply for Primary teacher, and second for those who will apply for Secondary Teacher. If a candidate wants to be a teacher of both; he/she have to appear in both levels.
