Prof.Padmaja Shaw, Former Professor Journalism Department, Osmania University, Hyderabad, deliveredthe Twenty-fourthNarla Memorial Endowment Lecture on “Platforms Players;Role of Media in Indian Democracy” atDr.B.R.Ambedkar Open university Campus, Jubilee Hills on Saturday.
Prof. Padmajashaw said, we turn to them for information for entertainment and increasingly look to them to create and sustain our relationships, changed the way we get our news, enabling new media outlets to thrive while challenging the hegemony of others as traditional broadcast and print media declinemedia have wide ranging implications for democratic governance and political practicesthey have radically altered the ways in which government institutions operate and political leaders communicatethey have transformed the political media system, and redefined the role of journalists.
Prof. A. Sudhakar, Director (Academic), who preside over the function, he said Stressed on journalist should work for the welfare of the people and should be more responsible. Media organizations should be transparent and use the peoples language for easy understand. He thanked Narla family members for donating rare personal collection of books of Sri NarlaVenkateshwaraRao to the University.

Earlier, the Chief Guest and other dignitaries lighted the lamp to mark the inauguration of the lecture.
