After successfully launching 204 schools and 12 junior colleges, the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society-(TMREIS) is now all set to enter the field of higher education. The TMREIS is planning to set up one residential degree college for women each in the erstwhile 10 districts in the State.
The government has been favorable towards the establishment of higher educational institutions for minorities which would provide quality education for free and the Society is preparing a detailed proposal to be sent to the government. Once a nod is received from the government, these colleges would be operational from the next academic year with an intake of 400 seats. In the next phase, the Society in tends to establish residential degree colleges for men too.
"Due to poverty and lack of opportunities, many from minorities do not go for higher education. After completing intermediate, they take up jobs in unorganized sectors. By setting residential degree colleges, the Society will provide quality education to the minorities for free in the State.
