The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) will make amendments to the rank list of the National Entrance-Cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) before allotment to MBBS and BDS courses in the state to ensure that the list was in accordance with the prospectus published by it.
CEE B.S. Mavoji told Deccan Chronicle that the CBSE, which prepared the list, had given students the option to identify three states of their preference. Many students from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have opted for the state.
However, the students who gave the state as a choice while applying for NEET UG 2013, would be eligible only if they satisfied the criteria for admissions to colleges as per the clause in the prospectus, he said. According to the prospectus, only Keralites and non-Keralite category-1 are eligible for admissions in the state.
According to this clause, a candidate of Kerala origin and children of all-India service officers allotted to the state are only considered as Keralites. A candidate who is not of ‘Kerala origin’ but who had undergone the qualifying course in the state and who is the son/daughter of employees of the central government, defence personnel posted in the state and employees, who are serving the state government, for a minimum period of two years are considered under non-Keralite category-I.
