Chrystal Macmillan PhD Studentship for International Students at University of Edinburgh, UK

INTRODUCTION

The University of Edinburgh is pleased to offer one Ph.D. Studentship in the fields of social justice, gender and equality, human rights and peace and conflict resolution. Applicants of any nationality are eligible to apply. This Studentship is offered by the School of Social and Political Science to a new Ph.D. student studying a field relevant to Chrystal Macmillan.

The University of Edinburgh Business School is the business school of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. The university has offered business education since 1918, and the MBA degree since 1980.

Applicants have or will have achieved the minimum required score in one of Universitys accepted English language tests.

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:
  • Studentship is available for pursuing Ph.D. programme.
  • This Studentship is offered by the School of Social and Political Science to a new Ph.D. student studying a field relevant to Chrystal Macmillan.
  • The studentship is available only to students intending to commence PhD study in the School of Social and Political Science in September 2017 and who are pursuing a PhD topic in one of the following fields: social justice, gender, and equality, human rights, peace and conflict resolution.
  • When making decisions, the Selection Committee will consider the applicants academic achievements, research proposal, research potential, any publications made, any relevant non-academic experience, the degree of support provided by references, and connection of the proposed research with the Chrystal Macmillan themes.
  • Applicants of any nationality are eligible to apply. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.
English language Requirements: University requires all applicants to meet one of the following English language requirements:
Applicants are a national of a majority English-speaking country as defined by the Home Office.
Applicants have completed an academic qualification at least equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree, which was taught in a majority English-speaking country.
Applicants have or will have achieved the minimum required score in one of Universitys accepted English language tests.

PAY PACKAGE

One Ph.D. Studentship is available to applicants working in the fields of social justice, gender and equality, human rights and peace and conflict resolution. This studentship covers University tuition fees at the Home/EU rate, and a stipend of �£14,000, for a maximum of three years (pro-rata for part-time students).
Awards are made for one year in the first instance and are renewable for up to a further two years (pro-rata for part-time students), subject to satisfactory academic progress.
Students liable to pay international fees may combine the Studentship with another Scholarship (such as the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship), to cover the entire fee costs.
