Ministry of Education Humanities Scholarships for Undergraduate Students, 2017
INTRODUCTION
Applications are invited for Humanities Scholarship Program (HSP) for undergraduates to continue their study of the humanities in overseas universities or at the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University.
The Ministry of Education is a ministry of the Government of Singapore that directs the formulation and implementation of policies related to education in Singapore.
COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
Scholarship is awarded for pursuing Undergraduate program.
Candidates should:
. Be Singapore Citizens;
. Have done consistently well in school, obtaining outstanding results in the GCE O-Level Examinations, with a minimum grade of B3 for English / equivalent results based on IP schools internal assessment;
. Have a good record of co-curricular activities;
. Have successfully been admitted to one of the Humanities Centres; and
. Not currently be in receipt of any other MOE scholarship (except EESIS and ESIP).
. Nationality: Singapore Citizens are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
CAREER PROSPECTS
How to Apply: The mode of application is online. Applications must be accompanied by an essay of about 500-800 words. Please choose from one of the following topics:
. A current controversial issue or conflict in the world
. An environmental issue confronting our world
. An issue facing Singapore society today
. All applicants are also required to attach soft copy of their secondary school testimonial and CCA records in their online application.
PAY PACKAGE
The scholarship provides an allowance of $1,000 per annum. It also covers school fees based on Singapore Citizens rates, subject to an annual cap of $2,400. It is tenable for 2 years, subject to satisfactory progress at the end of JC1 and good conduct. Successful applicants are not required to enter into a bond to serve the Singapore Government.
Scholarship can be taken in Overseas universities or at the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University.
