PhD Scholarship in Media Studies at University of Copenhagen in Denmark, 2017

INTRODUCTION

The University of Copenhagen is offering PhD scholarship in media studies with special focus on visual images of conflicts. International applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme. ICCI is focused on the ongoing, fundamental change to images from conflicts. Whereas images from conflicts used to be controlled by the state and military, they are now produced and distributed in abundance by citizens, activists, soldiers, insurgents, whistle-blowers etc. in todays digital, connective media landscape. University is seeking a candidate with a background in media studies, communication studies or similar, preferably with knowledge of visual communication/aesthetics and conflicts as well as experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods.

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

Scholarship is available for pursuing PhD programme. The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship: Applicants need to hold a two-year Masters degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent. Applicants must have submitted their thesis at the time of application, to the extent the thesis forms part of their Master program. In case you have not obtained your diploma by the application deadline, you must include a statement (pre-approval) from your university declaring that you have been awarded the Masters degree. College Admission Requirement Entrance Requirements: Applicants need to hold a two-year Masters degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent. Test Requirements: The language requirements for English are: . TOEFL paper based test: minimum score 560 . TOEFL internet based test: minimum score 83 . TOEFL computer based test: minimum score 220 . IELTS Academic passed with minimum overall band score 6,5 English language Requirements: The following applicants are exempt from the above-mentioned language requirements: . Applicants from countries where English is the official language, . Applicants holding a Bachelor or Masters degree from a Scandinavian country,* . Applicants who can document that English was the language of instruction during their BA or MA study programme, . Applicants holding a Danish BA or MA degree.
