1000 Doctoral Fellowships in Science & Technology, India
INTRODUCTION
Government of India is inviting applications for INSPIRE fellowships. These fellowships are available for pursuing doctoral programme in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc. at any recognized university or institute in India.
INSPIRE fellowship aims at enhancing research fellowships for doctoral studies and opening up partnerships with private sector for topping the Governments efforts in nurturing talents for scientific research.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is an innovative programme sponsored and managed by the Department of Science & Technology for attraction of talent to Science.
COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
Fellowships are available for pursuing doctoral programme at any recognized University or Institute in India.
Fellowships are available in basic and applied sciences including engineering, medicine, agriculture, veterinary, pharmacy etc.
INSPIRE Scholar having secured minimum 65% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA at MSc or Integrated MS/ MSc course.
1st Rank Holders at University Level Examination (not at Autonomous College Level examination) of overall full time post-graduate program in science, engineering /technology / agriculture / pharmacy / other applied science streams and undergraduate in Medicine i.e. MBBS. However, University shall consider providing 1st Rank to a student having a minimum batch size of 10 students in that University level examination with minimum aggregate of 60% marks of the entire course/ program. Toppers in any subject specialization in post-graduation 2nd year are not eligible. However, merely fulfilling the eligibility criteria for the INSPIRE Fellowship will not guarantee for the final offer of fellowship. Expert Committee will finally take decision on selections based on the academic merit, research proposal, host institution etc. submitted by the candidate.
Nationality: Applicants from India can apply for these doctoral fellowships.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have secured minimum 65% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA at MSc or Integrated MS/ MSc course.
Test Requirement: National Eligibility Test (NET) qualified candidates are eligible to apply.
PAY PACKAGE
It offers financial support in the form of a Fellowship equivalent to NET/ GATE fellowship (Junior Research Fellowship / Senior Research Fellowship) and research grant to the candidate. There is a provision of total 1000 Final offers of INSPIRE Fellowships to be given every year to eligible students and each Fellowship is tenable for a maximum period of five years or completion of their PhD degree, whichever is earlier. This Fellowship shall not be available to pursue M.Sc. or M.Phil. or M. Tech. course during pursing in any such Integrated M.Sc.-Ph.D./ M. Phil.-Ph.D./ M. Tech.-Ph.D. courses. However, continuation of the Fellowship for once selected candidates is based on satisfactory performance certified by the institution as per stipulated GOI guidelines for such Fellowship.
