Mitacs announces the Globalink Graduate Fellowship 2014 for top undergraduate students from around the world to Canada for a summer research internship As a result of the programs success pairing them with Canadian faculty members, Mitacs is helping these talented students pursue additional educational and research opportunities in Canada through the Globalink Graduate Fellowship The Globalink Graduate Fellowship provides financial support to former Globalink Research Interns to return to Canada for graduate studies at select Mitacs university partners

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility A Globalink Research Internship is open to students from all disciplines, although a high number of available projects tend to be focused in science, technology, engineering and mathematics Students interested in applying should: i) Be preparing for their final year of undergraduate study - that means you must have one to three semesters of course work remaining after you complete your Globalink Research Internship at your home institution ii) Have demonstrated a strong academic record through higher than average grades (Please see Mitacs Globalink website for minimum Grade Point Averages (GPA) per nationality) iii) Be able to participate in the research project for 12 weeks iv) Be able to demonstrate a high-level proficiency in spoken and written English Where to Study? About Globalink Research Internships Globalink Research Internships provide an intensive program of activities to international undergraduate students during a 12 week (May - September) research internship During their stay, Globalink Research Interns build a network of peers while they spend time with students from Canada and around the world researching under the supervision of a world-class faculty member at a Canadian university Globalink Research Interns expand their international connections through introductions to local entrepreneurs, as well as academic, government and business leaders Students gain professional skills by participating in workshops on networking, project management, teamwork and presentation skills Students with these skills are highly-valued in both research and industry careers For Globalink Research Interns, Mitacs makes it easy to participate by: i. Providing funding for accepted students to come to Canada for 12 weeks ii. Finding research projects for students, and introducing accepted students to a supervising professor iii. Assisting in coordinating local arrangements including housing on campus iv. How to Apply The Globalink Research Internship student application opens in September (for internships in May - September of the following year) and will be available at www.mitacs.ca/globalink Interested students are encouraged to sign-up for Mitacs news via the form available at www.mitacs.ca which will ensure they are alerted to the opening of the Globalink application Students interested in applying will have access to research projects submitted by faculty members at all participating Canadian universities and will identify the ones in which they are interested Students wishing to apply will need: a) An official up to date transcript of their grades in English to support their GPA b) A valid and updated CV (r�©sum�©) in English c) Academic references d) An application rationale on why they would like to be considered for the program, and what skills or experiences they bring to the research experience e) A passport which is valid for their entire stay in Canada Note Apply to the participating university/universities of their choice for graduate studies and indicate their eligibility for, and interest in, a Globalink Graduate Fellowship Complete the Globalink Graduate Fellowship application on the Mitacs website as soon as all university applications are submitted Fellowships are awarded to a limited number of students at the discretion of Mitacs, which will notify fellowship recipients directly about the status of their award For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions or contact Mitacs Globalink at glfellowship@mitacs.ca The deadline for applications is 29th September 2014 (Monday at 09.00 am) Pacific Daylight Time
