Kerala Prathibha Scholarship Scheme 2014 announced
INTRODUCTION
Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE) under its STARS (Students with Talent and Aptitude for Research in Science) programme is implementing the PRATHIBHA SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME to promote scientific research among students through the award of scholarships, for toppers in science subjects in Higher Secondary Board Examination to pursue Degree Courses in Basic or Natural Sciences in India
COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
Who Can Apply?
Candidates of Kerala origin who have qualified the Higher Secondary Examination from Keralaand who have secured admission for B.Sc/Integrated M.Sc course in the current year (year of application) are eligible to apply
Essential Qualification
Students who have obtained 90% and above or equivalent grade for Higher secondary Board Examination in any of the Boards namely viz., CISCE/CBSE/State Board from Kerala are eligible to apply provided they pursue B.Sc Degree/Integrated M.Sc Degree course in Basic or Natural Sciences in India

Features
Students selected for the award of Prathibha Scholarship are eligible for scholarship as follows
B.Sc Degree Course/ First 3 years of Integrated M.Sc course
1st Year - Rs 12000/-
2nd Year - Rs 18000/-
3rd Year - Rs 24000/-
PAY PACKAGE
M.Sc Course
1st Year/ 4th Year of Integrated M.Sc - Rs 40,000/- 2nd Year/ 5th Year of Integrated M.Sc - Rs 60,000/- *Continuation of the scholarship for the Post graduate course is subject to securing minimum 75% mark for Degree course The scheme ensures atleast 50% of the selection for girl students. 10% of the selection is reserved for SC/ST students.
Selection Procedure
A. Total number of scholarships awarded in a year is 100
B. Students who have got 90% or above in aggregate for the Plus Two examination in any of the Boards, namely State Board, CBSE and CISCE (Class XII), are eligible to apply for the scholarship
C. 10% of the total seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates
D. To ensure adequate opportunities to girl students, minimum 50% of the seats are set-aside for them
E. Students who are in receipt of any other scholarships are not eligible to apply for Prathibha Scholarship. However, SC/ST students who are receiving lump sum grant are exempted from this criterion
F. The number of scholarship eligible in each board of exam is selected in proportion to the number of eligible applicants in the corresponding Boards namely State Board, CBSE and CISCE (Class XII)
G. The scholarship is awarded as per ranking based on the marks secured in Higher Secondary Examination for all Science subjects
H. In case of tie in the total marks for science subjects, ranking is made based on the marks obtained for the subjects selected (Main) for the degree course. Further, tie if any is resolved by considering the order of marks scored in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics respectively.
I. The Research Advisory Committee (RAC) of WSD will look into the aspects of providing advice, monitoring and evaluation of this scheme and awarding the scholarship
J. The rank list of selected candidates will be published in KSCSTE website
How to Apply
