Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Overseas Students 2013/14

INTRODUCTION

Through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), the Swiss Government grants foreign researchers university scholarships. These scholarships are offered for young researchers. These scholarships will enable applicants to undertake research work in the fields, which the Swiss universities are particularly active in. Scholarships offered in the areas of: Duration of the scholarship: . For Research fellowships: 12 months (no extension possible) . For PhD scholarships: 3 years maximum . For Post doctorate scholarships: 12 months (with the possibility of extension for 6 months)

COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY

Value of the scholarships: . For Research fellowships: a monthly payment of 1920 Swiss Francs . For PhD scholarships: a monthly payment of 1920 Swiss Francs . For Post doctorate scholarships: a monthly payment of 3500 Swiss Francs Eligibility: . First class master, doctoral degree or equivalent university degree . Sufficient knowledge of the teaching language (French, German, Italian or English)

CAREER PROSPECTS

Age limit: 35 years (excluding the post doctorate scholarships) Selection process: Short-listed applications are then analyzed by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) which subsequently takes the final decision
