INTRODUCTION
The Distant Horizons Awards are international travel awards for University of Westminsters undergraduate students who want to take part in academic or employability-related events or activities overseas but who may not have the financial capability to do so.

Award details:
The award covers travel costs, such as international transportation (eg: flights, trains), accommodation and related participation fees (eg: conference fees, registration fees). The award cannot be used for everyday travel (Oyster travel cards), or travel that has already occurred. The award does not cover equipment or daily living costs.
The awards are a contribution towards the costs and are not meant to cover the full expenses of the planned overseas activity. Successful applicants must sign a Terms of Agreement prior to traveling overseas. The award payment will be made several weeks after the Student Mobility Team receives the signed Terms of Agreement. Any unspent funds must be repaid to the University.
Short - term abroad (under 3 months) - up to �£500. One semester abroad (3 to 6 months) - up to �£1,000. One academic year abroad (over 6 months) - up to �£1,500
COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
Eligibilities:
Applicants must be a current University of Westminster student, studying on a full-time under graduate course
Applicants must intend to take part in an academic or employability related activity overseas
Applicants must participate in a University of Westminster approved activity which is at least 5 full days of overseas activity
Proposed travel must be completed by31 August 2019
Students receiving a grant for the Erasmus + Programme or any University grant or bursary towards the cost of the overseas activity are NOT eligible.
