Rajarshi Gupta has been appointed as ONGC Videsh`s MD.

RBI Adopted a 4-Tier Regulatory Structure for Urban Cooperative Banks

 
The RBI made the decision to create a four-tiered regulatory structure to increase the financial stability of Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs).
 
Highlights:
  • To improve the financial soundness of Urban Co-operative Banks (UCBs), the RBI decided to form a 4-tiered regulatory framework.
  • A board of experts led by N S Vishwanathan, a former RBI deputy governor had presented many suggestions for improving UCBs.
  • With other recommendations, the committee suggested a 4-tiered regulatory structure depending on the size of the banks’ deposits and the regions in which they functioned.
  • For Factors, such as net worth, the Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR), exposure limitations, and branch expansion, a differentiated regulatory approach was advised.
  • A vital component of the recommendations was belonging to an umbrella organisation. The RBI agreed to a number of committee recommendations.

The first district to certify "Har Ghar Jal" is Burhanpur, MP.

 
Madhya Pradesh`s Burhanpur district was the first recognised "Har Ghar Jal" district in the nation.

  • Burhanpur is a district in Madhya Pradesh, and it became the 1st Certified `Har Ghar Jal` district in the Country.

  • People from 254 villages in Burhanpur declared their villages as "Har Ghar Jal" through a resolution passed by Gram Sabhas.

  • It certifies that all people in the villages have access to safe drinking water through taps, confirming that `No One is Left Out.`
