The National Emblem was unveiled by PM Modi on the roof of the new parliament building.

 
The National Emblem was cast on the roof of the New Parliament Building and unveiled by PM Narendra Modi.
 
Highlights:
  • PM Narendra Modi unveiled the National Emblem cast on the New Parliament Building`s roof.
  • He interacted with the Shramjeevis involved in the building work of the new Parliament. It is cast at the top of the Central Foyer of the New Parliament Building.
  • The National Emblem is made up of bronze with a total weight of 9500 kgs and is 6.5 m in height.
  • A supporting structure of steel weighs around 6500 kgs and has been constructed to support the Emblem.

Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Replaces National Rail and Transportation Institute

 
As Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, the National Rail and Transportation Institute has been modernised. A central university will be created out of the deemed-to-be university. The school is now known as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.
 
Highlights:
  • National Rail and Transportation Institute is upgraded as Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. The deemed to be a university will be upgraded to a central university. The university is renamed Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. 
  • The Union Cabinet has approved the introduction of a Bill in Parliament, called the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2022, to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009 for setting up Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV).
  • The amendment would help convert a Deemed-to-be University, National Rail and Transportation Institute (NRTI), into Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, a Central University. 
  • The NRTI offers BBA in transportation management courses, BSc in transportation technology, and MSc in railway system engineering and integration.

  • The Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is expected to be a key enabler for developing the transportation sector, which is strategically critical for the economic growth and development of India. 
  • The sector needs a steady supply of highly trained personnel and state-of-the-art technology. 
  • The university`s scope will expand beyond the Railways to cover the whole transport sector to support its growth and modernization.
