MSME Technology Centre Inaugurated By PM

On the occasion of National Youth Day 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated a `MSME Technology Centre` in Puducherry.
 
Highlights:
  • The Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises will be in charge of it (MSME).
  • The Rs 122 crore technological hub was built with a focus on the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry.
  • The centre was formally inaugurated during the 25th National Youth Festival in Puducherry (12th and 13th January 2022).
  • He also inaugurated the `Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam,` a new auditorium with an open-air theatre in Puducherry.
  • This world-class technology centre, which will span ten acres and train 20,000 students, support 2000 SMEs, and incubate 200 start-ups, will help propel the local economy forward.
  • The opening of this MSME Technology Centre by the Prime Minister will improve skill development and instil entrepreneurship among the region`s youth.
  • The MSME Ministry is reviving the sector through a variety of initiatives and programmes in order to achieve shared prosperity, long-term job opportunities, and the Prime Minister`s vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
North East on Wheels Expedition:
 
The "North East on Wheels Expedition" was formed to promote Northeastern culture.
 
Highlights:
  • The Ministry of Culture`s Meenakshi Lekhi has launched the `North East on Wheels Expedition` in New Delhi to promote Northeastern culture.
  • This year`s Bike Expedition will be held from April 8th to April 16th to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • Seventy-five bicyclists will be chosen from across the country to participate in this trip, which will cover approximately 9000 kilometres in six groups in the North East Region.
  • The excursion will also highlight the Dekho Apna Desh project of the Ministry of Tourism. Riders will also help to raise awareness about the importance of road safety.
  • The journey will connect, among other things, key locations associated with our country`s historical events.
  • Among them are Jowai, Moirang, Imphal, Kohima, Bumla Pass, Tezpur, and others.
  • The participants will pay tribute to national heroes such as Rani Ma Gaidinliu, Kiang Nangbah, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Kanaklata, Jaswant Singh, and others throughout their journey.
  • The North East on Wheels website has launched, signalling the beginning of adventure registrations.
  • A team of experienced and skilled bikers from across the country will select 75 riders from all who register.
  • At the inaugural programme, a song called `Nikal Pade,` which means `Set out/ Venture,` was also released, capturing the true essence of Young India determined to lead the future.

 

Infusion Of 1500 Crore Rupees In IREDA Approved:

 
The Union Cabinet has approved a 1500 crore rupee investment in Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited.
 
Highlights:
 
  • It will contribute to the creation of 10,200 jobs per year while reducing carbon emissions by 7.49 million tonnes.
  • The IREDA played an important role in renewable energy, growing its portfolio from 8,800 crores to 28,000 crores in the last six years.
  • The additional equity infusion will enable the mini-Ratna corporation under the new and renewable energy ministry to lend approximately 12,000 crores to the renewable energy sector, reducing the sector`s debt requirement of approximately 3,500-4,000 megawatt (MW), the CCEA said after its January 19 session.
  • The equity infusion will also increase the net worth of the specialised non-banking finance agency, allowing it to obtain additional financing and thus contribute more to the Government`s goals.
  • IREDA is a non-banking financial institution that promotes, develops, and provides financial assistance for the establishment of projects involving new and renewable energy sources.
  • The IREDA was established in 1987, with its headquarters in Delhi.
  • Pradip Kumar Das is the current chairperson of IREDA.
