Md Arif Khan In Target Olympic Podium Scheme:
Md Arif Khan`s participation in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Core has been confirmed by India`s Sports Ministry`s Mission Olympic Cell (MOC).
Highlights:
- He will be a member of this team until the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, in February.
- Khan is the first Indian to receive direct quota slots in two different Winter Olympics events.
- He is also the first Indian athlete to be confirmed for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
- At the Winter Olympics, Khan will compete in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events.
- Furthermore, Rs 17.46 lakh has been approved under TOPS for training in Europe and equipment procurement in advance of the major event in China.
- The MOC approved Khan`s 35-day European training camp, which began after his qualification for the Winter Olympics.
- In December of last year, he won the giant slalom quota at a competition in Montenegro.
