Air India became the first airline in the world to use a TaxiBot:

National carrier Air India (AI) became the first airline in the world to use a TaxiBot on an Airbus A320 aircraft operating a commercial flight with passengers onboard. The aircraft of AI 665 Delhi-Mumbai flight was brought to the runway at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) airport’s Terminal 3 using the TaxiBot. The aircraft was flagged off by Air India Chief Managing Director Ashwani Lohani. The move of Air India is towards a cleaner environment.

Air India`s Taxibot:

  • AI`s TaxiBot can tow an aircraft with its engines switched off.
  • This will help in saving fuel, bringing down consumption by as much as 85% used during taxiing of aircraft.
  • It also aims to reduce the wear and tear of the engine and curb carbon emission, thus improving air quality. 
  • The TaxiBots will also help in decongesting boarding gates and apron area by providing efficient pushbacks.

Note: 

A TaxiBot is a pilot-controlled semi-robotic towbar-less aircraft tractor. It is used as alternate taxiing equipment. It is used for taxiing an aircraft from parking bay to runway and vice versa.

Assam State Cabinet adopted the new land policy:

The Assam State Cabinet adopted the new land policy on 21 October 2019. The State Assembly also passed a 25% hike in bus fares. The State also decided to include the Japanese encephalitis patients under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan health scheme.

New land policy:

Under the new land policy of Assam, three bighas of agricultural land will be allotted to landless indigenous families.

Also, the landless families will also be allotted half bigha plots for house construction.

The allotted plots cannot be sold for 15 years.

Small family policy:

Under the small family policy, a person who has more than two children will not be eligible for government jobs. The policy will become effective from 1 January 2021.
