1) Lydia Sebastian, Indian-origin girl in UK with IQ higher than Albert Einstein.
- A 12-year-old schoolgirl has achieved the maximum score possible in a Mensa IQ test, a feat achieved by only 1% of those who sit the society’s entry paper.
- Lydia Sebastian completed the Cattell III B paper supervised by Mensa, the society for people with high IQs, with minutes to spare at the sitting at Birkbeck College, London.
- Both Hawking and Einstein are thought to have an IQ of 160. Mensa is believed to be the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world.
2) Queen Elizabeth II surpasses Queen Victoria`s long reign.
- Queen Elizabeth II has reached a major milestone by becoming the longest-reigning monarch in Britain’s history.
- She passes Queen Victoria, her great-great-grandmother, who was on the throne for 63 years and 7 months.
- Queen Elizabeth II assumed the throne on 6 February 1952 at the age of 25 upon the death of her father George VI.
- At present, she is the head of the Commonwealth of Nations of 53 countries and the Supreme Governor of the Church of England.
- In addition to the United Kingdom, the Queen is the sovereign of 15 Commonwealth realms including Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
3) Suu Kyi opens poll campaign on FB.
- Aung San Suu Kyi kicked off campaigning for Myanmar’s historic general election with a Facebook post one of many signs of how far the country and its most recognisable politician have come in a few years.
- In a video message, Suu Kyi called the upcoming election ``a crucial turning point for our country``.
- More than 90 parties will take part in the elections, which are being closely watched as the next step toward democracy in a country that was run by a repressive military junta for nearly 50 years.
- The polls will be the first since a nominally civilian government was installed in 2011.
4) Indian-American Jagdeep Grewal Sworn-in as First Female Postmaster of Sacramento.
- Indian-American Jagdeep Grewal was sworn-in as the first woman postmaster of Sacramento city in California. With her swearing-in, Sacramento got a female postmaster after a span of 166 years.
- Grewal started her career with the US Postal Service as a window clerk in 1988. Five years later, she was promoted to the post of the manager. She has also worked as a postmaster in Pacifica-Daly City, California.
- As per the US Postal Service, Gerwal (57) will oversee 1004 employees who process and deliver mail on 537 city routes and 94 rural routes.
- She had received her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s degree in language arts from Punjab University in India.
5) $188,776 Facebook grant for cyberbullying expert Sameer Hinduja.
- Sameer Hinduja, a prominent Indian-American and cyberbullying expert from Florida Atlantic University, has received a $188,776 grant from social networking site Facebook to study cyberbullying and dating violence among teenagers.
- The overarching goal of the study is to illuminate the nationwide prevalence, frequency and scope of cyberbullying and electronic dating violence among a population of youth in the US.
- Cyberbullying tends to occur between individuals who do not like and do not want to be around each other. Electronic dating violence transpires between two people who are attracted to each other, at least on some level.
- Hinduja received the "Global Anti-Bullying Hero Award" for 2015 from Auburn University for his efforts and contributions on the subject.
6) Indian-origin boy Anirudh Kathirvel wins `The Great Australian Spelling Bee`.
- Anirudh Kathirvel, a nine-year-old Indian-origin boy is Australia`s new spelling champion after he won the 50,000 dollars `The Great Australian Spelling Bee` competition.
- Kathirvel, born in Melbourne to a Tamilian couple won 50,000 dollars education scholarship along with an impressive 10,000 dollars worth goods for his school.
- Anirudh said he could not believe his luck after winning the scholarship and asked his fellow spellers to "pinch" him.
