The deadline to apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)has been extended to October 21, 2011 on their official website. GATE is jointly administered and conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The extension of application dates is an outcome several complaints received by candidates unable to apply for the entrance test on the online link in the official website due to it being dysfunctional for past 5 days. The GATE aspirants were very perturbed with the whole scenario and were worried that they would lose a year if they failed to access the link.
The media played a very important role in this case and created awareness on this situation. As a result, the GATE dates have now been extended to October 21 from October 17, 2011 previously.
The GATE official website now states the following dates:
• Last date for online application submission: October 21, 2011
• Last date for receipt of printed online application at respective zonal GATE office: October 28, 2011
• Date of Online Exam: January 29, 2012
• Date of Offline Exam: February 12, 2012
GATE Results will be announced on 15th March, 2012 and admission to M.Tech course will open from March-July next year.
