BHEL, NTPC, Powergrid and Indian Oil have issued notifications for recruitment of Engineering Trainees through GATE Score

            Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.      

GATE 2012 Score as the 1st selection criterion

The GATE is conducted for admission into Masters Degree in IITs and IISc. However, the scenario has changed now as major companies are using it as a platform to identify the suitable engineers/researchers in various areas. GATE 2012 score is the first step in these companies to filter the candidates in their selection process. They have made it mandatory for the students to have GATE score in the concerned subject for which the companies are seeking to recruit.

          Thus, the major companies do not only use GATE as an admission test but also as a means of recruitment option. As the new recruitment process has started from 2012, the importance for GATE has increased and more number of students are expected to take the GATE. As of now 4 companies have issued notification to recruit engineer trainees through GATE score. The number of companies to use this selection process would rise keeping in view of the importance of GATE.

BHEL: 800 Engineer Trainees in Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Disciplines  

800 Engineer Trainees @ BHEL Through GATE Score

BHEL invites Online Application from young and energetic Graduate Engineers and for recruitment of Engineer Trainees:

No of Posts: 800 posts

1. Mechanical - 550,

2. Electrical - 175,

3. Electronics – 75

Qualification : Bachelor`s degree holders in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2)/of Five year integrated Master`s degree or Dual Degree programme in Engineering or Technology in the disciplines of Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Engineering degrees from professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (eg. AMIE by institute of Engineers (India)) as equivalent to BE/B.Tech in the disciplines of Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering. For the above disciplines for the post of Engineer Trainee, candidates with Engineering Degree in some other disciplines will also be considered, for which they will, however take the GATE-2012 exam in one of the relevant BHEL advertised discipline.

Selection Process: Selection process will comprise of GATE 2012 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines & performance in Interview

Application Fee: Rs. 500/- for Engieer Trainee and Rs. 300/- for Supervisor Trainee to be paid in the SBI throughout the country by prescribed challan only. (SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from the fee)

How to Apply: Candidates should apply Online. Those who want to apply for the post of Engineer Trainee in BHEL will be required to take the GATE-2012, which is advertised on 11/09/2011. The score of GATE will be utilized by the BHEL for invited candidates for interview.

Candidates need to apply Online from 04/01/2012 at the BHEL website only after registration in GATE-2011.   

Indian Oil: 225 Engineer Trainees in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical and Metallurgy Disciplines

POWERGRID: Executive Trainees in Electrical Discipline

Executive Trainee (Electrical) Jobs through GATE Score in Power Grid Corporation of India Limited

Powergrid is looking for Bright, Committed and Energetic engineers to join its fold as Executive Trainee in Electrical discipline.

Essential Qualification:

Full time B.E./ B.tech/ B.Sc (Engg) from recognized university/ institute in Electrical/ Electrical and Electronics/ Power Engineering with Minimum 65% or Equivalent CGPA

OR

AMIE Electrical Branch with Minimum 65% with both Sections A & B cleared by 31.03.2012

Final Year / Semester students who expect their results by 31.07.2012 are also eligible, provided they have obtained 65% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all semesters/years up to pre-final examination.

Upper Age Limit: 28 years as on 31.12.2011

Selection Process

The Selection Process consists of GATE – 2012 score, Group Discussion & Personal Interview.

Eligible candidates will have to appear for the Electrical Engineering (EE) paper of GATE Exam - 2012. Candidates shall be short-listed for Group Discussion & Personal Interview based on their score in GATE Exam - 2012 and as per the criteria decided by the Management.

Please note that only GATE-2012 score is valid for this recruitment exercise. GATE score of 2011 or prior is not valid.

Candidates who qualify in the Group Discussion & Personal Interview as per the criteria decided by the Management will only be adjudged suitable for empanelment. The Offer of Appointment shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the requirement.

Remuneration:

During Training: Rs. 6.6 lakhs per annum

After Training: Rs 12.09 lakhs per annum

How to Apply

Candidates have to register themselves and appear for GATE exam-2012 in Electrical Discipline (Code EE).

A separate notification with details regarding number of vacancy in each category, important dates related to submission of POWERGRID online application, date of interview etc. shall be available in the website, from 4th January 2012.

Candidates have to register themselves online at POWERGRID website with details of their GATE registration number and other required information, which will be made available at CAREER section of www.powergridindia.com from 4th January 2012.

Group Discussion and Personal Interview are likely to be conducted in the month of April/May 2012.

NTPC: Graduate Engineer Trainees in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering Disciplines

NTPC is looking for promising, energetic young Graduate Engineers with brilliant academic record in disciplines of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering.:

How to Apply:All eligible candidates are required to appear for GATE-2012 for which the commencement of online submission of application has started from 12/09/2011 at http://www.iitd.ac.in/gate . Based on the score of GATE-2012, candidates will be called for Interview and Group Discussions.

Online submission of Graduate Engineers with GATE-2012 registration number will start from 06/01/2012

Last date to apply online:26/01/2012        

Essential Qualification:

Powergrid: During Training: Rs. 6.6 lakhs per annum and After Training: Rs 12.09 lakhs per annum       

BHEL: Rs 7.5 Lakhs to Rs 8.8 Lakhs per annum                 

NTPC: Basic pay of Rs 24900/ was paid for 2011 trainees
